Knife Skills (a.k.a., How to Safely Wield a Knife...In Your Kitchen)
Duration: 2.5-3 hours
Date: May 25th, Saturday 6:00pm-8:30ish Workshop end times are approximate and may end a little earlier or later based on class size, dishes served, etc.
Requirement(s): 18 years and older

Description: Ah, the indispensable and essential skill of learning how to use a knife...properly. No longer will you be intimidated as you learn, hands-on, and practice professional techniques for the home kitchen. You'll gain the confidence and competence to wield your knife. It will go further than impressing friends and loved ones, even though that's nice sometimes too. Learn the essential classic cuts and how to mince, chop, slice and dice, as well as other cuts for vegetables and herbs that, once learned, can last a lifetime. Included in the class will be a butchery demonstration applicable to the home cook.
You’ll also learn about choosing knives, the right knife for the job, what qualities are most important in a knife, the different knife styles, knife care and safety, storage and the difference between sharpening and honing.
We will enjoy your newly found skills by creating some dishes that incorporate some of the cuts that you practiced. Wine will be served during this time.
Suggested Alcohol Pairing: Wine
